KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is set to enjoy a more reliable electricity supply once a 15-megawatt alternating current (MWac) Large-Scale Solar Photovoltaic Project (LSSPV) is completed in 2026.
Work on the project in Kampung Langkon, Kota Marudu, is expected to begin now that Sabah Electricity (SE) and TNB Renewables Sdn Bhd received a Letter of Notification for the project from the Sabah Energy Commission.
SE chief executive officer Mohd Yaakob Jaafar said the Letter of Notification was a "positive achievement" as part of efforts to support renewable and green energy initiatives in the state.
Yaakob said that SE is committed to green initiatives including the development of a 100MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) infrastructure in Lahad Datu.
"SE is optimistic that both projects LSSPV and BESS projects will set a benchmark for sustainable energy innovation and enhance the potential capacity of renewable energy generation," he said.
