Media Prima disburses RM4.1mil to NGOs to help Palestine

KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Bhd, through the Media Prima Palestine Humanitarian Fund, has disbursed RM4,118,649 in donations to support humanitarian efforts in Palestine.

The funds, collected from public contributions, have been entrusted to Mercy Malaysia (RM1,320,000), Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCare) (RM1,527,649) and the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) (RM1,271,000).

Mock cheques were presented by Media Prima group chairman Datuk Seri Dr Syed Hussian Aljunid to Mercy Malaysia president Datuk Dr Ahmad Faizal Mohd Perdaus, Malaysian Relief Agency president Dr Mohd Daud Sulaiman and Humanitarian Care Malaysia chairman Datuk Seri Ir Dr Kamal Nasharuddin Mustapha.

"Praise be to God, today we will fulfil the mandate given by thousands of donors to the Media Prima Palestine Humanitarian Fund to channel humanitarian aid to the victims of oppression in Gaza through Media Prima's partner NGOs which operate there," said Media Prima group chief financial officer Rosli Sabarudin today.

"This is the second round of aid distribution. Including the aid previously distributed, the total amount of aid now reaches RM6.1 million."

Since Oct 7, 2023, the fund has disbursed RM6,059,701 to assist those affected by the ongoing war in Gaza.

Rosli reiterated the company's commitment to providing funds to help Palestine, even though past efforts were undone.

"We will continue our efforts to deliver aid, depending on the situation there.

"However, our hope is also to rebuild the infrastructure and public facilities that have been destroyed by the inhumane actions of the Israeli regime.

"This includes a physiotherapy centre that was built using funds contributed by the public through the Media Prima Palestine Humanitarian Fund and other NGOs," Rosli said.

Mercy Malaysia's Dr Ahmad Faizal said the NGO would use the funds for medical treatment, general health assistance to prevent the spread of disease, clean water and food aid.

"For today's contribution, thank you to the management and leadership of Media Prima, but also to the people of Malaysia who contribute to Palestine.

"Keep your contributions coming. We will together pray for the resolution of this unjust crisis and the war on the people of Palestine."
