KTM Komuter train collides with trespassers, one dead [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: One Indian national who trespassed on the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) line between Teluk Pulai and Klang died, while four others sustained minor injuries.

In a statement, KTMB said Komuter Train No. 2110, which departed from Jalan Kastam Station at 6.39am carrying 200 passengers, was forced to stop after colliding with the trespassers at Km34.734 between Teluk Pulai and Klang.

It said the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

"Passengers were transported to Klang Station, accompanied by Auxiliary Police officers and on-duty KTMB staff, to board shuttle buses provided at the station to Subang Jaya station.

"In this incident, one trespasser was reported dead at the scene, while four others sustained minor injuries. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Authorities will conduct further investigations," it said.

It said that the train suffered damage, causing delays exceeding 60 minutes, and a relief locomotive was dispatched to tow the affected train to allow the removal of the bodies, enabling train services to resume normal operations.

"Passengers affected by subsequent trains were also transported via complimentary shuttle buses to Subang Jaya Station to continue their journeys to their respective destinations."

KTMB chief operating officer, Mohd Zain Mat Taha, said railway tracks are restricted areas, and individuals trespassing on railway tracks may be fined up to RM500 under Section 126 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010.
