Harith Iskander thanks police for swift action against threats

KUALA LUMPUR: Comedian Harith Iskander has expressed gratitude to the police for their swift action taken against a man who allegedly threatened his safety.

The threat came after Harith made a statement on the ham issue.

The Facebook post allegedly contained insults against Islam by the account holders, Cecelia Yap Song KL, and Harith.

Following this, the suspect was arrested on Jan 25, two days after a police report lodged by the Harith's manager, who is also his former wife, at the Dang Wangi police station.

"Congratulations and thank you @pdrmsia_official for taking such swift and positive action," he said in an Instragram post.

Meanwhile, the suspect was charged today under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

Izzuddin Md Salim, 30, was sentenced by the magistrate's court to five months in prison and a RM2,000 fine after he pleaded guilty to criminally intimidating Harith and his ex-wife via text message.

Magistrate S. Mageswary ordered the suspect to serve his sentence from the date of his arrest, Jan 24, and another month in jail if he fails to pay the fine.
