Zahid satisfied with performance of Umno and BN ministers in unity govt [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he is satisfied with the performance of ministers and deputy ministers from Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) in the current unity government.

Zahid, who is also the BN chairman, said it would not be fair for him to assess the performance of these ministers, as the public and the people could make that judgment.

"I conduct coordination meetings every week, involving all the relevant ministers, who come to the DPM's office.

"We discuss not only Cabinet papers, whether they are memorandums or notes to the Cabinet, but also matters related to national politics, the economy, and the party," he said on the Podcast Utama Buletin TV3.

Zahid added that coordination meetings are aimed at ensuring a unified stance in discussions and viewpoints.

"We never interfere in any minister's work, but this coordination is done to ensure that we do not contradict one another in statements or decisions made during Cabinet meetings.

"Each of us has our key performance indicators (KPIs) to meet. However, Umno and BN grassroots members expect more, particularly in terms of performance - not only within ministries and intra-party matters but also in inter-ministry collaboration," he said.

He added that instead of criticism, the approach taken is to provide feedback intended to improve or enhance performance based on new programmes.

"We focus more on introducing 'game changers' for each ministry led by Umno and BN ministers," he said.
