ISKANDAR PUTERI: Auxiliary policemen had to intervene and diffuse an argument between a delivery rider and two Singaporeans at a petrol station in Sunway Big Box, near here, last Tuesday.
The incident took place on June 16. However, the one-minute and 50-second clip of the heated argument surfaced on social media and WhatsApp today, prompting the Iskandar Puteri district police chief to issue a statement.
Assistant Commissioner Rahmat Ariffin said the delivery rider lodged a police report of the incident.
In the report, the complainant said he was at the Caltex petrol station at 8.37pm to fuel up his motorcycle.
After parking his machine at a petrol pump, he walked to the station's counter to pay for the petrol.
However, upon returning to the pump, he saw a Singapore-registered vehicle, with two men inside, stopping at the same pump.
The men, he said, were holding a jerrycan at the same pump.
Rahmat said the delivery rider said things became heated after he told them that it was his spot.
"A disagreement ensued between both parties, but the altercation was successfully resolved with the assistance of the Sunway auxiliary policemen, who were present at the scene," Rahmat said in the statement posted on the district police's Facebook page.
However, it was learnt that when the delivery rider started to record the incident, the two Singaporean men started to threaten him with a steering lock.
They appeared to ignore the auxiliary policemen's presence and repeatedly asked the delivery rider to delete the footage.
It was unclear how the altercation was resolved as the video ended abruptly.
The auxiliary policemen however were heard asking the delivery rider to leave the premises.
