The 10-day wedding ceremony came to an end yesterday (Jan 16) with great fanfare. The event wrapped up with a "doa selamat" prayer ceremony and the closing of the guard drums.
The wedding celebrations began on Jan 7, when the prince, who was named "Asia's most eligible bachelor" recently, wed his fiancee, Yang Mulia Anisha Rosnah, at the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Brunei's capital, Bandar Seri Begawan.
The couple had reportedly dated for several years before their engagement was announced in October last year.
Following this, the Majlis Istiadat Akad Nikad (solemnisation ceremony) took place on Jan 11, where the prince, who is sixth in line for the throne, officially married his commoner fiancee.
Prince Mateen, 32, is the 10th child of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, who holds the record for being the world's longest-reigning monarch and was once named as the world's wealthiest person.
On Instagram, Prince Mateen has an impressive 2.5 million followers, where he constantly shares a slice of his daily life, which includes snuggling with his pet tigers and playing polo. Prince Mateen is also a helicopter pilot with the rank of Royal Brunei Air Force Major.
