KUALA LUMPUR: A woman's complaint about finding a crawling maggot in her meal has sparked outrage among netizens.
The woman, known on X as @soccpuppet, shared her experience in a post, revealing that the nasi padang meal she and her friends ordered online through an app was not only incomplete but also contained a live maggot.
"We were almost done with our meal when we discovered a maggot crawling inside the food.
"This is the most vile and disgusting thing ever, and my friends vomited immediately," she wrote in her post.
She said she reported the incident but received only an automated response, the same as her initial complaint.
"They replied a day later with yet another automated response.
"Apparently, they cannot process any refunds or take my complaint seriously.
"A living, crawling maggot in our food is definitely a serious health violation," she said.
The lack of a refund and adequate response has caused widespread anger among netizens.
"It sucks that the app did this. Next time you can contact the vendor/restaurant directly for feedback/refund. This issue is big and the restaurant needs to be aware of this," said @wnadays.
"That's why whenever I order food like this, which isn't fast food but more like a full meal. I always check the restaurant first. It's my habit to check the details before ordering something," said another user @DHYHTD__.
"Sorry to hear that. For your information, you have to be super annoying and a very difficult customer in order to be refunded. Been there and done that. Keep spamming the chat requesting for refund and voucher," said @mindyrbusinesss.
