Youth Expo 2017 in Bukit Jalil brings together jobseekers, employers

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite the rain, eager jobseekers were seen spending the Wesak public holiday at the Youth Expo 2017 - a career fair held in conjunction with Umno's 71st anniversary.

Final year university students, fresh graduates and those who are self-employed were eyeing the over 3,000 job openings nationwide offered at the event held at Bukit Jalil National Stadium here today.

Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah graduate Muhd Firdaus Azmi, 23, was one of the many newly graduated job hunters who attended the event to kickstart their careers.

"What makes the expo convenient is that it provides a booth where job hunters could choose their career of choice, leave some personal details and their résumés to the organisers without having to visit numerous booths.

"The choices of job vacancies are diverse and I am happy that I get to apply for five jobs from various companies," said the Information Technology graduate from Rawang.

The event organised by Umno Youth aimed at developing the youth and encourage them to improve their lifestyle. Apart from job opportunities, it also provided a platform for the workforce to be equipped and be competitive on a global stage.

The four components to the expo included job opportunities, affordable homes, skills training and funding.

Final year students from Asia Pacific University, Anies Idrus and Vasantha Samy both 24, pursuing Information Technology said the job fair is for them to find out jobs available for them after their graduation.

"Our friend recommended us to come and check out the job fair, we decided to come and see the jobs offers since we're both graduating soon" said Vasantha, who is majoring in forensic computing.

Jobseekers interested in joining the Ministry of Defence can apply at the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) booth.

"We are searching for young talents who are able to work with integrity, and willing to give their all to the job as it involves protecting the country,"

"Our booth today is not only to attract jobseekers but also to inform parents on the job scope offered by us." said Angkatan Tentera Malaysia Malaysia human resource officer Sarjan Nizamuddin Nasarudin.
