Guan-Eng deflects questions on DAP and Pakatan Harapan cracks

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP has yet to state its position on if it would be dropping some leaders as candidates from its GE14 list for being vocal critics of the party’s leadership.

Its secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said he would answer questions on the issue when the time is right.

He claimed that he could not answer the questions because the party was in the process of coming up with a candidate list for the upcoming elections.

"I can’t answer the question now. When the time is right, I will make it known," he said today.

He said this when asked about the party’s stand on the possibility of eliminating a number of MPs and state assemblymen who were criticising the party leadership.

Among the names mentioned were that of DAP stalwart, Kepong MP Tan Seng Giaw and Tanjung Bungah state assemblyman Teh Yee Cheu.

Both are reportedly vocal critics of Lim as they believe the latter has sidestepped environmental concerns in approving development projects.

Lim said that in Teh’s case, he himself had expressed that he did not wish to contest in the elections and it was not the party’s decision.

On Tan, he said he would answer the question when the time comes.

Lim also did not state the party’s position on the Ayer Hitam seat in Johor which DAP Johor had decided to give Parti Amanah Negara (PAN).

He also parroted his earlier statements by saying he would make an announcement on the matter soon.

On Pakatan Harapan’s failure to resolve seat distribution in the country which was to be announced on Wednesday, he said that the issue had to be solved by the opposition pact’s presidential council.

"Let the presidential council decide on the dispute."
