PORT DICKSON: This district has the potential to be more developed if Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is voted in during next month’s by-election.
Port Dickson District Indian Businesses Association chairman Datuk M. Nagarajan said Negri Sembilan, especially Port Dickson, would likely see big changes in terms of development, in particular the tourism sector, if its member of parliament was the prime minister.
“We welcome Anwar’s candidacy and will aid (Pakatan Harapan) during the campaign. It will be a huge loss if the people reject Anwar as he is expected to be the country’s eighth prime minister. We believe Port Dickson will develop at a fast pace,” he said.
Nagarajan said Port Dickson was also known as an oil and gas town, but this had changed of late.
However, he said, Anwar’s experience would see the entire district begin to see development again.
“Many job opportunities will be opened up for locals. The most important things is for the tourism industry, something which is synonymous with Port Dickson, needs to be upgraded. There have been many ideas for development which should have been given attention but which were ignored,” he told reporters at his office in Wisma Linsum.
Also present were Linsum assistant director M. Satishkumar, non-governmental organisation Waris Nismilan chairman Aminuddin Abdul Wahab and MyCulture representative K. Sachi.
Nagarajan said Anwar, should he be elected, would also have to solve several other problems which Port Dickson residents are facing.
These, he said, included flash floods and roads which were in dire need of maintenance and upgrading.
“These are basic problems which the residents have had to put up with for a long time. Up till now, the situation has remained the same.”
