KOTA BARU: Kelantan government has expressed its confidence that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will continue to lead the country until his tenure ends if he was not `disturbed’ by any quarter and no attempts are made to prevent his administration process.
Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob said the state government also believed that Dr Mahathir was capable of carrying out the task successfully unless there were efforts to ‘disturb’ his administration.
“The Kelantan government gave its co-operation and upheld the spirit of federalism when Dr Mahathir became the 7th Prime Minister last year.
“The co-operation was needed especially when it involved the sovereignty of Islam, the country’s peace and the people’s prosperity,” he said in a statement today.
Ahmad, who is also Pas deputy spiritual leader, said the state executive councilors had been in direct contact with ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department.
“To date, our executive councilors have been advised to make regular contact with ministers relevant to their portfolios.
“We hope such efforts will strengthen the relationship between the State and Federal governments,” he said.
