KUALA LUMPUR: Umno is expected to issue a letter on the expulsion of Datuk Lokman Adam from the Barisan Nasional component party tomorrow, after the Supreme Council member was sacked on Friday.
A party source said with the issuance of the letter, the Suara Rakyat Secretariat chairman will no longer be a party member.
The action against Lokman was taken after he was seen to continue attacking party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The latest accusation was when he claimed that Zahid, who is also Bagan Datuk MP, was seeking to forge a cooperation with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa in a statement said following the sacking as a party member, Lokman also lost his Supreme Council post.
He added that Lokman, on many occasions, appeared to have failed to understand Umno’s constitution, especially on the position and power of the party president as well as that involving an appointed Supreme Council member.
It was reported that the decision to sack Lokman from the party was made during the Umno Supreme Council meeting on Friday.
Lokman was not present at the meeting as he was abroad.
