KUALA LUMPUR: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been named as the opposition leader.
He said opposition parties, including a faction from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and Parti Warisan Sabah, have been informed of the decision.
"Pakatan Harapan secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has informed the Speaker of the decision of the presidential council, " the Port Dickson Member of Parliament said in a video post on his Facebook page today.
He replaces Bera member of parliament Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who held the position while Pakatan Harapan was in power.
Anwar was previously the opposition leader in Parliament between June 26, 2013 and March 16, 2015, while he was the Permatang Pauh MP.
The Parliament is scheduled to convene for a one-day sitting on May 18.
