SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has announced his decision to contest the PKR vice president post.
State PKR secretary Muhammad Nazri Kassim has confirmed that Aminuddin, who is also the state PKR state leadership council chairman (MPN), will contest for the post.
"His candidacy is supported by Melaka PKR MPN chairman Halim Bachik and myself," he said today.
PKR leaders who have announced their intention to run for the party's vice presidency post are Setiawangsa Member of Parliament (MP), Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad; Kapar MP Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid; former Kapar MP Manivannan Gowin and Kota Raja Branch PKR Chief, Dr Gunaraj George.
Also gunning for the same post are Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari; PKR communications director and Lembah Pantai MP, Fahmi Fadzil; Perak PKR chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak and PKR Wanita chief Fuziah Salleh.
Aminuddin had earlier announced his intention to contest for the PKR Port Dickson branch chief, which will see him contesting against the state PKR deputy chairman Datuk M Ravi.
Ravi is also the Sri Tanjung state assemblyman and Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly and has been in office since 1999.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Nazri also confirmed that he will contest for the post of Seremban PKR branch chief and he will be challenged by Negri Sembilan Investment, Industry, Entrepreneurship, Education and Human Capital action committee chairman and Ampangan state assemblyman, Datuk Dr Mohamad Rafie Abdul Malek.
It is understood that the incumbent, Senator Datuk Dr Ahmad Azam will not be contesting for the post.
The PKR election was held for the first time in a hybrid manner, both physical and online through the ADIL application introduced by PKR on Feb 20.
The nomination process for the PKR 2022 election began on Apr 8 and ended last Sunday involving branch levels throughout the country.
