Party Rakyat Malaysia pushes 'We Are Back' motto for GE15

GEORGE TOWN: Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) today announced a list of five candidates to represent the party in the 15th general election (GE15) for the northern zone.

They are Teh Yee Chew, who will be fielded for the Bukit Bendera parliamentary seat, Ravinder Singh (Bayan Baru), Lee Ah Leong (Batu Kawan) and Koh Swee Yong (Jelutong) in Penang and the party's sole representative who will contest in Kedah, Tan Chow Kang, for the Sungai Petani parliamentary seat.

In addition to announcing the candidates' list for GE15, PRM also announced the party's manifesto, where among others, the party offered the people effective, capable, relevant and quality education for the younger generation.

PRM also promised through the manifesto to balance economic development and ecological development and to audit all parties in power to ensure accountability and responsibility.

Koh, who is PRM secretary-general, said in total, PRM nominated 25 candidates to represent the party in GE15.

"Today, we announced five candidates for the northern zone — four in Penang and one in Kedah. We will announce our candidates to compete in 14 parliamentary seats in Kelantan and four parliamentary seats in Selangor after this.

"There are a few more seats in other states like Pahang that we are discussing to field our candidates there," he told a press conference when announcing the candidates' list at the Penang PRM headquarters here today.

According to Koh, PRM used to be a political organisation that had strong influence in Penang and the country in the past.

"PRM's struggle to defend the fate of the people never stopped. Even though our members and leaders were reduced to small numbers in recent times, our struggle for the people never faded.

"So, with the slogan 'We are back', PRM wants to offer a new option to voters in this general election," he said.

Koh, who is also PRM's candidate for the Jelutong parliamentary seat, said PRM was also ready to cooperate with any party on condition that the welfare of the people is that party's priority.

"PRM places the welfare of the people as the main core of the party's struggle.

"As such, any party that wants to work with us must have the same struggle as PRM," he added.
