KUALA LUMPUR: Coalitions and alliances other than Barisan Nasional (BN) are in a mess and without a clear direction for the people and country, said BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today.
He said this was seen in their campaigns that revolved around hate politics, vengeance, slander, manipulation and personalities, followed by fake promises similar to the ones they made in the last general election.
He said these parties were without a direction even as the country geared up for the 15th General Election (GE15) on Nov 19.
"Enough is enough. Times have changed. This is no longer the time (for this kind of politics). Malaysians know and understand the old ways that these parties continue to use.
"Other alliances are afraid of their own shadow because they've been known to be cruel to BN leaders. This makes them desperate to try anything," he said in a Facebook post.
The Umno president asked whether these coalitions were sincere in contesting in GE15 to serve the people.
He also asked if these coalitions were power hungry, and whether they feared BN winning the election.
Zahid said these parties were looking for ways to scheme and work with each other, despite criticising each other after going their separate ways.
BN, he said, had always focused on administering the country as best as possible.
"Giving BN victory will give a clear message to the world that Malaysians, including those who support other parties, prioritise their country more than they (prioritise) politics."
Voters, regardless of ideology, should be with BN in GE15 to return stability and prosperity to Malaysia, he said.
"Hopefully, those who have never supported BN can put aside their political differences and vote for BN on Nov 19. Insya-Allah.
"It doesn't matter if you're not a member and supporter of BN, which has made a huge contribution to the country. For the sake of Malaysia, heed this call for unity."
He reminded voters that stability and prosperity were crucial to protect the future of the country and its people.
He said the world was expected to face an economic crisis in the near future, and the future of Malaysia and its people could no longer be gambled due to instability.
He said efforts to tackle the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic would not succeed without stability and prosperity.
