KOTA BARU: Tan Sri Annuar Musa said he was not a traitor to the Umno party as claimed by certain quarters.
He said the accusation could not be accepted especially by a loyal Umno member like him.
Annuar however admitted that he had many differences of opinion including with the party's leaders.
"I acknowledge that there were differences of opinions between Umno leaders and myself on certain issues at times, but it does not mean that I am against them or that I am a traitor.
"As a party member, I want to see Umno remains strong and I only gave my personal views, not trying to force the party.
"Due to this, I was sacked from Umno and I have accepted my fate. I have never regretted what I have done as I believe I was not wrong," he said.
Annuar said this at a meeting with Ketereh Umno branch leaders and supporters at Kelantan Poverty Foundation in Peringat here today.
He said his differences of opinion with Umno leaders including Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi did not mean that he hated the Umno president.
"He is my friend and I am not angry with him," he added.
He believed his continuous calls against the party's decision including the call for Malay-based political parties to unite, was also the reason for him being sacked from Umno.
"When Umno was defeated in the 15th General Election, I told them to find a formula for how Umno can win back and suggested unity with all Malay parties.
"I also told Umno not to contest solo, don't split with other Malays parties, but they would not listen.
"They also accused me as Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) agent," he added.
He hoped other Umno MPs and members such as Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Husein and Khairy Jamaluddin would not receive similar fate as him.
