SHAH ALAM: PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has criticised several Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders for their cowardice in the Dewan Rakyat.
He said the leaders, namely opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, never posed questions to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the Prime Minister Question and Answer (PMQ) session held every Tuesday of the sitting.
"Never in history has a prime minister held a PMQ session for 30 minutes every Tuesday.
"During the session, members of parliament can ask any question, along with supplementary questions.
"Never once did the opposition leader, Pagoh (referring to Muhyiddin), or Marang pose a question to the prime minister.
"I know this because I was seated behind the prime minister," he said in his winding up speech at PKR's special congress today.
Saifuddin also criticised the trio for only being the heroes when they were out of Parliament, championing race and religion.
"By right, the session should be used as a platform for the opposition for checks and balances and not just to monitor government policies," he said.
Previously, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Johari Abdul said the PMQ session would be carried out as a pilot test every Tuesday of the current session which, began on Feb 13.
