KUALA LUMPUR: The only way Perikatan Nasional (PN) should come to Selangor is by being "tourists", said Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.
Speaking at the 'Sesi Bicara PRN' tonight, the Umno vice-president said it would be good for PN leaders to visit Selangor and learn how to administer a state.
"If they (PN) want to come to Selangor, we welcome them as tourists.
"It's good for them to learn how Selangor was able to manage the economy despite the state not being aligned with the federal government for three terms, in Penang, too.
"There's nothing wrong with learning from people who understand about administering a state," he said.
Johari, who is also Titiwangsa member of Parliament and former second finance minister, added that the performance of the state depended heavily on the competence of its leaders.
He pointed out that Kelantan's contribution to the nation's gross domestic product (GDP) was only 1.9 per cent, while Selangor's was at 25.5 per cent.
"How is PN saying they want to change Selangor?" he questioned.
He also urged voters in Kelantan to give the unity government a chance to manage the state.
"When choosing a political party (to vote), look at their objectives. If it is to overthrow the government, then wait until 2027 (when this government's term ends)."
