SIK: Caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor retained the Jeneri seat with a thumping majority of 16,050 in the 15th state election.
Sanusi, who is also the Perikatan Nasional election director, garnered 21,823 votes against Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Muhamad Khizri Abu Kassim who obtained 5,773 votes.
The official result was announced by the Election Commission's returning officer for the Jeneri seat , Mahamad Suhaimi Manat at the vote tallying centre in SMK Agama Sik here.
Meanwhile, PN candidate for Belantek, Ahmad Sulaiman won by 14,156 majority votes after receiving 17,782 votes, defeating Pakatan Harapan candidate Mazli Saipi who garnered 3,626 votes.
