KUALA LUMPUR: "Once I have all the answers, I will call you guys (the media), to tell what is happening."
This was an immediate response from Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul on the status of the six Bersatu members of parliament whose memberships were terminated.
"I received the notices on Friday from Beluran (MP Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee). According to the law, I have 21 days to study it, insyaAllah. So be patient," he told reporters after attending a celebration to mark 55 Years of Bilateral Diplomatic Relations between Malaysia and Romania.
Asked how soon he would make his decision, Johari replied it would be as soon as possible.
"Before the 21 days."
The six MPs are Datuk Syed Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang), Jeli MP Zahari Kechik, Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid, Tanjong Karang MP Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi and Labuan MP Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman as well as Gua Musang's Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, who was also Nenggiri assemblyman.
On June 20, Bersatu confirmed that it had submitted the notice to Johari's office on the status of its six MPs.
Kiandee in a statement had said the notice was submitted in accordance to Article 49A of the Federal Constitution.
