ALOR STAR: Pas election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has denied claims that the party is talking with Umno to form a political pact.
Sanusi, who is also Kedah Menteri Besar, said there have been no official meetings or discussions between leaders from both parties.
"Is there such a meeting? It was Fahmi Fadzil who made the claim, although there is no such thing. That's fake news, so don't share," he said in jest, referring to the communications minister and PKR information chief.
Sanusi said there may have been casual discussions among members of parliament from both parties but denied any official meetings.
"Discussions among MPs are normal since they bump into each other in Parliament. There are no official meetings.
"I am the party's election director. If there were such meetings, I would have been informed but as of now, there is no such thing.
"If they are referring to bumping into each other as official meetings, then I would have had meetings with leaders from Umno and DAP.
"In fact, I bumped into Fahmi Fadzil at the Istana Negara recently, he was sitting opposite me," he said in a press conference after chairing the state executive council meeting in Wisma Darul Aman, here today.
Yesterday, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi denied that the party was having talks with Pas on any collaborations.
Zahid, who is also the deputy prime minister, said any meetings between Umno and Pas leaders were done in a personal capacity and not officially between the two parties.
Pas information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari had previously claimed that there had been frequent informal meetings with Umno on forming a political pact for the 16th General Election (GE16).
Zahid was reported as saying that this was decided based on Umno's previous experience cooperating with Pas.
