Annuar Musa says BN set for big win in Mahkota following Nenggiri success

KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) is expected to secure a substantial victory in the Mahkota by-election, replicating its success in Nenggiri last month.

Muafakat Nasional president Tan Sri Annuar Musa said this was based on the Johor State Election results from November last year, which showed BN receiving over 16,000 votes compared to Pakatan Harapan (PH) garnering about 11,000 votes.

"These results make Mahkota BN's strongest stronghold in Johor.

"In the Mahkota by-election, with all the machinery of the federal and state governments already mobilised to support the coalition, BN is expected to easily increase their vote count similar to Nenggiri. They might surpass 30,000 votes," he said in a Facebook post today.

Yesterday, Johor Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced that Kluang Umno Youth chief Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah has been named as BN's candidate for the Mahkota by-election.

Syed Hussien was among the two BN candidates shortlisted, the other being deputy Kluang Wanita Umno chief Zainani Jamaluddin.

Annuar also noted that Perikatan Nasional (PN) only garnered 7,000 votes in the previous state election.

"This shows that their votes were more than 20,000 fewer than those obtained by BN-PH.

"BN's majority in this by-election will certainly exceed 20,000 votes, reflecting the success of their new partnership with the unity government'," he added.
