Johor MB promises hassle-free travel for Mahkota voters [WATCH]

JOHOR BARU: Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has reassured voters travelling for the Sept 28 Mahkota by-elections that their journey will be smoother at land checkpoints.

In a 90-second video posted on his TikTok account, he said that thousands of voters commuting daily between Johor and Singapore could expect improved travel conditions on Saturday at the Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine (CIQ) checkpoints at Bangunan Sultan Ismail and the Tuas Second Link.

The state and federal governments have collaborated to enhance the efficiency at both the Johor Causeway and Second Link, which are critical transit points for the constituency's electorate.

"There will be a significant increase in the number of immigration staff, and additional buses will be deployed at the checkpoints. Overall, we are implementing improvements to facilitate ease of movement," he said.

Onn Hafiz also confirmed that he had coordinated with the directors of the Immigration Department to ensure all facilities operate at optimum levels on election day.

"The state government is committed to making the voting process as seamless as possible for Mahkota residents returning to cast their ballots on Saturday," he said.

"With the Mahkota by-election fast approaching, I urge voters to return to their constituency and participate in the democratic process. I encourage every Mahkota voter to come back and make their voices heard," he added.
