KOTA KINABALU: Pakatan Harapan (PH) has yet to have any formal discussion with any party to face the upcoming state election in Sabah, said United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) president Datuk Ewon Benedick.
"There has not been any final decision regarding PH's cooperation with any party for the upcoming state election.
"Sabah PH needs to choose allies that share the same struggle, for example, in advocating for the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), demanding one-third of the seats in the Dewan Rakyat and seeking a 40 per cent revenue share," he said after chairing the Upko Supreme Council meeting here today.
Ewon, who is Penampang member of parliament and Kadamaian assemblyman, said Sabah should be given the autonomy to determine which parties to cooperate with and the nature of that cooperation in line with current political developments.
He made this statement in response to comments from Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also deputy prime minister, stating that BN and PH have finalised cooperation for the upcoming Sabah election expected to take place next year.
