Sarawak deputy premier re-elected as SUPP Pending chairman

KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian was returned unopposed as chairman of Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) Pending branch at its triennial general meeting (TGM) here today.

The deputy chairman went to Padawan Municipal Council (PMC) chairman Tan Kai whereas the four vice-chairmen posts went to Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng, Chai Ming Lu, SUPP Women chief Kho Teck Wan and Youth wing secretary-general Milton Foo Tiang Swee.

The post of Pending branch secretary went to Ong Chee Chiang and his three assistants were Goh Tze Hui, Albert Tay Seng Pin and Ling Choon Huang.

Patrick Gordon Soon was elected the treasurer and his assistant is Judy Kho Poh Gek.

In his speech, Dr Sim, who is also SUPP president, said his re-election reflected the strong confidence and trust that members placed in his leadership and vision for the future of the branch and the party.

He expressed deep gratitude to all party members for their steadfast support, saying that he reaffirmed his commitment to an inclusive leadership style that fostered unity and participation, ensuring that each member had a meaningful role in strengthening the party and serving the community.

"Together, we can build a more robust and responsive organisation that truly represents and meets the needs of our people," he said.

The election also saw new leadership for the Youth and Women sections.

Liew Jui Heng was elected as the Youth section and Sim Bee Kim was re-elected as the branch's Women leader.

The general meeting also honoured party veterans Datuk Sim Kheng Hui, Puan Sri Sim Lim Su Kheng, Chan Chiaw Yam and Kho Kheng Hee with appointments as honorary chairpersons.

Dr Sim said their years of service and contributions were recognised as vital pillars in the party's history and development.
