You betrayed us, Dr M

THANK you, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, for bringing up the matter of security during this 14th General Election and for “reminding” us of our duties to the nation.

We need not be told what to do; we know what we are supposed to do as police and members of the country’s security forces.

Have you forgotten how we have served under you for 22 years? Have you forgotten our good deeds for the country?

How ironic that you used to lament how Malays easily forgot — in your own words “Melayu mudah lupa”. You are the one who has forgotten that you can no longer advise us of our duties.

Have you forgotten how we defended the country from security threats with what little capability we had at that time? We did it all well, and without being asked.

Have you forgotten our sacrifices —those who have died and those who have become disabled; the wives of the slain officers; and children who have been orphaned — all in the name of defending the country’s sovereignty, and you?

Have you forgotten how we fought, without a thought for our safety? We fought with conventional weapons and outdated communications systems, with which you provided us.

Have you forgotten who signed the peace treaty with the Communist Party in 1989 and how it was all achieved so that you could govern the country and be highly regarded? Yes, you were praised and admired, but we suffered.

Have you forgotten who had your back when Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was sacked for sexual misconduct and corruption? While it is true that the courts found him guilty, but the deed was already done — he and his family were publicly humiliated, locally and globally.

Much damage had been done since by him, like demonstrations, which went on for years. We were the ones who stayed awake night and day, through rain and shine. Did you even spare a thought? Today, you and Anwar are the “best of friends”. Working towards a common goal, the quest for power?

Have you forgotten what you did to Tun Musa Hitam, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi? Now, you are doing the same to Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Your actions have led to political chaos, demonstrations, increase in crime rates and social disorder, and more.

Do you remember what happened during the Memali incident? You were the prime minister then, or have you forgotten? You said, they died in vain — who? Members of the security forces?

Thank you, Dr Mahathir, for saying that we “died in vain”.

There are many other issues that we have kept secret, that we cannot reveal. Let those secrets be kept buried. May Allah soften our hearts so that we are able to forgive you.

We feel betrayed when you did a U-turn and made peace with the enemy, the enemy that you created when you were in power. It seems that you’ve been lying to our faces all this while. And, now, you are creating falsehoods that the current government is cruel, evil and oppressive.

This government was chosen by the people, hence, as the security forces, we are their defenders. Is it wrong for the people to elect the government of their choice through the democratic process of elections?

The government has done much for the rakyat, our welfare are well taken care of. We live in peace and harmony.

Enough is enough. Do not tell us what to do. We know our job, and we are well aware of our responsibility to the people and nation.

Malaysia is a blessed country. Leave us be.
