TELEVISION sets, refrigerators, laptops, smartphones and other electrical appliances are a necessity.
But over time, these accessories become damaged or outdated and you buy a new one. Do you throw away the old devices? Or are there other means to handle this waste?
Electronic waste, or e-waste, is one of the biggest pollutants on this planet.
This is due to the fact that we rely so much on these gadgets and electrical appliances.
E-waste is a broken, non-working or obsolete electronic appliance, such as air conditioners, washing machines and refrigerator.
Anything that runs on electricity is called e-waste.
There is a proper way for us to handle e-waste.
We cannot dump or discard it anywhere as most e-waste may contain materials that are hazardous and toxic to our health and the environment.
In Selangor, there are more than 30 collection centres to send e-waste.
And some recycling centres pay when you send your e-waste. You can start collecting and sorting your e-waste.
