THERE is growth in the number of new malls entering the Klang Valley, which ranges in sizes from 250,000 sq ft to around 1.2 million sq ft.
While there is concern that the openings of new malls would create an oversupply situation, developers are playing it smart by creating a concept with defining features to ensure steady demand.
Evo Mall is a project under construction by PKNS-Andaman Development Sdn Bhd in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor. It is a joint venture between Selgate Corp Sdn Bhd and Andaman Realty Sdn Bhd.
The four-storey Evo Mall spread over 250,000 sq ft of space with a total of 110 retail outlets, which will feature restaurants and cafes, boutiques and entertainment.
The mall is part of an urban redevelopment that comprises small office, home office (SOHO), known as Evo SOHO Suites, Bangi Walk, Sentral@ Bangi CBD and other commercial offerings.
Andaman Group managing director Datuk Sri Dr Vincent Tiew is upbeat the new retail mall would benefit the growing population of the southern town of Bangi.
“EVO Mall will be part of the urban redevelopment in this part of Greater KL with its specialty services and products, providing a fresh experience that will fit the customer profile of this area.”
Tiew said after inking an agreement with Parkson Malaysia, Asia’s leading department store, and two other mini anchor tenants SenQ, a premium electrical and electronics retail chain store and Food Empire, here, recently.
He said Parkson was a firm favourite among Malaysians for its extremely diverse range of brands, from European and Asian products to contemporary local labels.
Tiew was excited to have them on board Evo Mall as Parkson would occupy three floors of about 83,000 sq ft.
According to him, Evo Mall has achieved slightly more than 70 per cent occupancy and it will be home to Japanese Brand Grocer, which is the mall’s anchor tenant.
Other big names include Caring Pharmacy, Milanno Eyes Fashion, Focus Point, MOG Eyewear, New Mega Optics, Pets Wonderland to Digi, Celcom Xclusive, U Mobile, TM Broadband Station and Samsung.
