SHAH ALAM: The transformation of Shah Alam, spearheaded by i-City, into a premium technology-oriented development will put it and Klang on par with other prominent places within Klang Valley, according to industry veteran Prem Kumar Subramaniam.
He said that i-City, as a technology city, is ready to reach new heights in the near future, with the remaining five million square feet of gross floor area devoted to major commercial and residential complexes.
According to him, these innovations will continue to combine advanced technological aspects and functionalities.
Prem said that the entire team, led by I-Berhad founder and major stakeholder Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong, has worked tirelessly against all difficulties to transform the brownfield property where i-City is located into a jewel of the crown mixed development.
"Mercu Maybank and DoubleTree by Hilton Shah Alam i-City are the two flagship commercial developments that showcase Lim's true grit and determination to prove that a vision can become a reality," he said after receiving a developer award for i-City's transformation.
Prem, who was recently appointed to I-Berhad's board of directors, said that this award is a significant acknowledgement of Lim and his senior management team's ongoing devotion and perseverance.
I-Berhad is the creator of i-City, which began more than a decade ago.
Prem said that I-Berhad is a steady company that places a high emphasis on sensible decision-making and, most importantly, risk management and mitigation.
"Decisions are well-considered, and one of the key factors that supported my decision to accept the position of independent director is Lim's business management mindset.
"The philosophy of ensuring that each development project has adequate funds to ensure completion, regardless of the rate of sales of the development components, provided me with the comfort to accept the position," Prem continued.
He also said that i-City's 'One Shah Alam, One Destination' plan reinforces the developer's commitment to assist and spearhead the continuing expansion and prosperity of Shah Alam and the neighbouring development corridors.
Lim said that Prem, with his broad experience, diverse skill sets, and impressive achievements, is poised to play a crucial role in propelling the company's strategic objectives to new heights by 2025.
He said that Prem's extensive knowledge in property management, appraisal, and development has been demonstrated by his engagement in numerous megaprojects and real estate endeavours.
Among them are the Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Bandar Iskandar Puteri, and KL Metropolis, he said.
