Tropicana ramps up Johor launches, upbeat about future prospects

KUALA LUMPUR: Tropicana Corp Bhd is ramping up its development efforts in Johor, recognising substantial growth potential in the region.

Recently, the property developer announced several major updates, including the sale of Johor land to NTT Data Group for RM383 million and a RM240 million deal with Z Data Group.

Last week, Tropicana unveiled its latest billion-ringgit project in Johor: the 163-acre Lido Waterfront Boulevard (LIDO), a mixed-use development on reclaimed land along the waterfront near Singapore. This extensive development will feature seven core components, including residential, commercial, wellness, education, hospitality, recreational, and lifestyle offerings.

Ong Chou Wen, chief executive officer of Tropicana, highlighted Johor's rapid growth and the company's ambition to transform LIDO into a vibrant metropolis in the Southern region.

Since 2010, Tropicana has made a strong impact in Johor through projects like Tropicana Danga Bay, Tropicana Danga Cove, and the 244-acre Tropicana Uplands.

"LIDO is one of our most luxurious projects in Johor, and this impressive masterplan will be the new pulse of Johor city centre with its close proximity to the RTS link,"' Ong said in a statement.

To kickstart this mega project, Tropicana held an official groundbreaking ceremony with its main contractor, China State Construction Engineering Corporation, for the first phase—Skypark Kepler, a branded residence in partnership with Banyan Group.

The two 54-storey towers will host 856 units, ranging from 667 sq ft to over 2,000 sq ft.

"We are proud to partner with global corporations such as CSCEC and Banyan Group. Together with their expertise and support, it will elevate our ambitious growth in Johor." Ong added.

Tropicana continues to welcome partners to support its growth across Malaysia. With over 728 acres of prime land in Johor, the company plans to build sustainable townships and seek strategic partners for future developments.
