KUALA LUMPUR: Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong have proved that they are still Malaysia’s best men’s doubles though they are no longer with BAM.
The Olympic silver medallists, who are now on their own as professionals, easily powered into the Thai Masters semi-finals yesterday.
And they did it by knocking out a BAM pair, Teo Ee Yi-Ong Yew Sin 21-12, 21-16 in the quarter-finals in
Bangkok.
V Shem-Wee Kiong, ranked World No 14, will meet Japan’s Akira Koga-Taichi Saito for a place in tomorrow’s final.
However, BAM regained some pride when in another last eight match, their young national pair of
Nur Izuddin Rumsani-Goh Sze Fei beat profesionals, Mohd Arif Latif-Nur Azriyn Ayub 21-8, 21-14.
They will meet fifth seed
Taiwan, Lu Ching Yao-Yang Po Han in the semi-finals.
In the mixed doubles, Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying, who have also left the BAM, also advanced to the last four,

In the men’s singles, Malaysia’s youngsters Lee Zii Jia and
Cheam June Wei fell in the quarter-finals.
Zii Jia was beaten by Frenchman Brice Leverdez 11-21, 19-21 while
June Wei took a set off five-time world champion Lin Dan of China before losing 21-14, 16-21, 8-21.
