KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Open has been called off following the government's directive to postpone all public gatherings, including sporting events, until April 30 to contain the spread of Covid-19.
The decision was made by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) after consultation with the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
In a statement, the BAM said the Malaysia Open, initially scheduled for March 31-April 5 at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil has been postponed.
"New dates will be decided later," read the statement today.
Ticket buyers will be reimbursed. The refund process will commence on Monday and will be processed within eight working days.
"With the situation under constant review, the BAM will continue to monitor all advice with top priority being the safety and health of all," the statement added.
