KUALA LUMPUR: Team Lee Zii Jia confirmed today that they had received a legal letter from his former coach, Indra Wijaya.
Zii Jia's team manager and sister Lee Zii Yii told the press that she had left the matter to the world No. 4's legal team.
"Yes, I can confirm that our lawyer has received a letter, whether it's a letter to sue, I don't know. We don't want to prolong or make the matter worse, so we will leave it to our legal team," Zii Yii said.
Earlier, Timesport had reported that Indra might sue Zii Jia for alleged breach of contract. According to Indra, he had signed a contract with the 25-year-old Zii Jia, which runs until 2024.
Indra, who left the BA of Malaysia in February last year to join Zii Jia's independent team, was dropped by the latter in November, following a string of poor performances.
Zii Jia, who has not had the best of starts to the 2023 season, joined the national squad today at Academy Badminton Malaysia for centralised training for the Asia Mixed Team Championships.
