KUALA LUMPUR: Lee Zii Jia showed nerves of steel to outlast newly-crowned All England champion Li Shi Feng of China in a pulsating battle to reach the second round of the Swiss Open.
The world No 4 recovered from a game down to clinch a morale-boosting 18-21, 21-18, 23-21 win in 72 minutes at the St Jakobshalle in Basel on Thursday.
The second-seeded Zii Jia will next face Nhat Nguyen of Ireland, who stunned Indonesia's Shesar Hiren Rhustavito 21-19, 21-17 in the other opening-round encounter.
Zii Jia will be determined to keep the momentum going after reaching All England semi-finals last week.
