KUALA LUMPUR: It was a heartbreaking end for Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah as they missed out on winning the women's doubles bronze medal at the Paris Olympics on Saturday.
However, all badminton fans should be proud of Pearly-Thinaah's campaign, as they became the first Malaysian women's pair to reach the semi-finals of the event at the Olympics.
Today, world No. 12 Pearly-Thinaah could not do much as they lost 21-11, 21-11 to Japan's world No. 4 Chiharu Shida-Nami Matsuyama in the playoff for bronze at the Porte de la Chapelle Arena.
Malaysia will now depend on Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and Lee Zii Jia to confirm at least a medal in badminton tomorrow (Aug 4).
Aaron-Wooi Yik will contest for the men's doubles bronze, while Lee Zii Jia will be in action in the men's singles semi-finals.
