(UPDATED) Aaron-Wooi Yik smash into Korea Masters semi-finals

KUALA LUMPUR: Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik continued their strong run at the Korea Masters, advancing to the semi-finals of the Super 300 event today.

The world No. 6 overcame South Korea's world No. 237 Kim Jae Hyeon-Lee Sang Won in straight sets, 21-17, 21-12, in a 33-minute quarter-final at the Iksan Gymnasium.

Next up for the former world champions is a clash with Taiwan's world No. 76 Chiu Hsiang Chieh-Wang Chi Lin, who edged past China's Xie Hao Nan and Zeng Wei Han 21-12, 16-21, 21-19.

Olympic bronze medallists Aaron-Wooi Yik are in pursuit of their first title of the season, which would brighten their chances of qualifying for the World Tour Finals in Hangzhou next month.

They are 13th in the Race to Finals standings and must break into the top seven to secure a spot in the prestigious season finale.

Malaysia's Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani, Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun and Choong Hon Jian-Haikal Nazri are ranked third, seventh, and 12th, respectively, in the Race to Finals.

However, only two pairs from each nation can qualify for the World Tour Finals, which offer a total prize pool of US$2.5 million (RM10.7 million).
