KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu Polygon Cycling Team (TSG) are pleased with the immediate impact new signing Aiman Cahyadi has made with the team.
The Indonesian won the climbers classification (red jersey) at the Tour of Sharjah - his first race with the team - which concluded in the United Arab Emirates yesterday.
TSG's Eritrean rider Metkel Eyob and Irwandie Lakasek also did well to finish on the podium (both third place) in stage three and stage five respectively during the UCI2.2 tour.
Young sprinter Wan Abdul Rahman Hamdan showed glimpses of his potential when he finished fifth during stage two.
TSG sporting director Wan Mohd Nazri Wan Ahmad is expecting more from the team in their upcoming races.
"Our overall target was (to podium in) two stages and we managed to do that also take the red jersey. We, however, were not able to achieve our goal of placing a rider in the top-three of the general classification," said Nazri yesterday.
"I think our lineup of new and current riders have gelled quite well here (Sharjah) and hopefully they will continue to improve together.
"This is a good result for which will motivate the squad for the upcoming Tour of Antalya (Feb 9-12) and Tour of Rwanda (Feb 19-26)."
Aiman had spent the last two seasons (2021-2022) with Indonesian continental outfit Mula. He is one of two new foreign riders TSG have signed this year, the other is Australian Jesse Ewart.
Ewart is currently competing with TSG's other squad at the Saudi Tour (UCI 2.1).
