Former Tour de France winner Bernal to race at Olympics

BOGOTA: Former Tour de France and Giro d'Italia champion Egan Bernal will ride for Colombia at the Paris Olympics, the country's national federation announced on Wednesday.

Bernal, 27, is set to feature at this year's Tour, which ends on July 21, before competing in the men's Olympic road race in Paris on Aug 3.

In January 2022, Bernal suffered a serious injury after crashing into a bus during a training session and has since failed to rediscover his Grand Tour-winning form.

Daniel Felipe Martinez will also represent Colombia at the Games, in the road race and the time trial on July 27. - AFP
