Miltiadis still keen to show full potential with TSG

KUALA LUMPUR: He has had a tough start to his time with Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) but Andreas Miltiadis is hoping to remain with the UCI continental side for another season.

The 10-time Cyprus individual time trial national champion joined the Kuala Terengganu-based squad on a one year contract at the start of the season.

Miltiadis, however, said his time with TSG has been hampered by a dental issue since the start of the year.

"I had a root canal issue which has affected my performance since January," said Miltiadis when met recently.

"I was forced to take a lot of antibiotics which has affected my immunity levels until now. You can hear my voice now, I am sick again.

"I am hoping to stay with TSG for another season so I can show my full potential and deliver some good results for TSG. I want to have a good season next year.

"I consider myself an all-rounder and am good at moderate climbs. Cameron Highlands (stage) would have been suitable for me, unfortunately I was not at my best at the time."

The 28-year-old was one of two foreign riders - the other being Anatolii Budiak (Ukraine) - included in TSG's Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) squad last week.

Miltiadis crossed the line 50th (+4:47s) during the queen stage (Taiping-Cameron Highlands).

He went on to finish 37th overall in the general classification, just over five minutes down on green jersey winner Max Poole (DSM-Firmenich PostNL).
