KUALA TERENGGANU: Even before the final whistle is blown for the Malaysia Cup, the state government has already declared Sunday a holiday.
Menteri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said he made the announcement early to enable government departments and agencies to plan their working schedules.
He said the decision was made at the weekly state executive council meeting at Wisma Darul Iman today.
“Whatever the result, it is a holiday for Terengganu on Sunday. I am confident, with the players’ enthusiasm, history will repeat itself, since Terengganu last won the Malaysia Cup in 2001,” he said.
He reminded the 30,000 supporters travelling to watch the finals against Perak at the Shah Alam Stadium to avoid doing anything that would bring down the wrath of the Football Association of Malaysia.
Asked about the incentives if Terengganu were to win, Samsuri said an announcement would be made later.
