KUALA LUMPUR: The Perlis FA (PFA) are claiming that there are those who are trying to bring down the association’s new leadership by bringing up all sorts of issues.
PFA deputy president, Mohd Abdul Karim Khan Mansor Ahmad Khan explained that among the issues brought up include reports about players’ salary arrears which was reported by the media yesterday (Tuesday).
He stressed that PFA have never turned a blind eye or absolved themselves of responsibility on the issue, and are acting professionally in whatever troubles and problems that they face.
He added that PFA are very disappointed with what has transpired and will be taking stern action according to the law because the association’s reputation is at stake especially after their leadership transformation.
"With all this in mind, the PFA management would like to advise all the players not to be easily influenced by any third party that can tarnish and wreck what has been already agreed upon before this.
PFA’s management also advised all their fans not to make assumptions or draw conclusions on the salary arrears issue, as there are internal matters that have not been touched yet, which seemingly shows that it is PFA’s fault alone.
“To the sponsors, such an issue is a move to discredit PFA’s new leadership. It is hoped that all sides will remain calm and give their undivided support to the team,” he said via a media statement released earlier today (Wednesday).
NSTP Sport had reported that some of the 18 Perlis Northern Lions 2 (PNL2) players who featured in the FAM Cup last season claimed that they have not received their salary arrears as promised by PFA, so much so they have had to do other jobs such as fishing to earn a living to support their respective families.
Apart from this, Abdul Karim explained that PFA had summoned the representatives of the 2018 FAM Cup and Youth Cup players for a special meeting last week to discuss matters and provide an explanation regarding the delay in payment of salaries and salary arrears which should have been paid by January 7 as stipulated in the contracts.
However he claims that only the representatives for the 2018 Presidents Cup and Youth Cup players turned up, while the representative for the FAM Cup players was a no show.
“On January 8 (Tuesday), PFA gave and explanation to one of the 2018 FAM Cup players and we were informed that the explanation was shared to the other FAM Cup players.
“That meeting was carried out to resolve a couple of other issues pertaining to wrongdoings and discipline of the players as stated in their contracts, but the representative of the FAM Cup players was not present,” he added.
