KUALA LUMPUR: Perlis forward Khyril Muhymeen has admitted that it’s a new and worrying experience for him — not getting paid for his work.
“I have never gone without salary for two months in my life,” he said.
“We are giving them (Perlis FA) time to pay up. If they take three or four months to pay us, then it’s worrying.
“We will still play because we’ve trained hard for the last two months. While we’re here (in the Premier League), we might as well go all out. Furthermore we are professionals,” he said.
The 32-year-old, who previously played for Kedah, Negri Sembilan, AirAsia PJ Rangers and PKNS FC, said he wants to help Perlis but he doesn’t deny the possibility of leaving the Northern Lions if things really get bad.
“If they still can’t pay us after three or four months, then there’s no point for us to play on.
“Everyone feels pressured because there are probably players struggling as they have a family, a wife and kids.”
Admitting that some of the Perlis players have been demoralised by the salary issue, Khyril has urged the critics and the media to give the team management some breathing space.
“To me, Perlis is like a family and if we have any internal problems, we can still cope with it but I hope the media can cut the management some slack because it is affecting the players mentally.”
The former international, who scored two goals in Perlis’ 3-0 win over Uitm FC on Friday, said: “I am definitely happywith my performance because the last time I scored two goals, it was last year.”
