THE Malaysian Football League (MFL) have confirmed that Police will play in the Super League next season.
Police, who finished fourth in the Premier League, took up Penang’s spot after the Panthers were deducted six points for failing to meet the 30-day deadline, set by Fifa, in settling the salary arrears of a former player.
Penang dropped from third to seventh spot as a result.
MFL chief executive Kevin Ramalingam said: “We followed Fifa’s ruling after receiving confirmation from the FA of Malaysia on Sunday. It is not for us to question Fifa.
“It is always an administrative nightmare when such things happen.
“This is why we have placed new regulations such as the economic control programme to avoid future issues.”
He said Sarawak, who finished bottom of the Premier League, will playaplayoff match against Kelantan United, the runners-up of M3 League, after the Malaysia Cup. The winner will play in the Premier League next season.
