TAM Sheang Tsung was once hailed as Malaysia’s football prodigy.
First scouted by former J1 League champions Yokohama Marinos, Sheang Tsung played for several development squads in Japan before joining Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua in 2013.
Unfortunately, the 24-year-old midfielder failed to make his mark in Japan and China.
Since late 2016, he has been playing in the M-League.
However, he struggled and did not feature regularly for his former clubs, Melaka and Kuala Lumpur.
Sheang Tsung, however, has not given up hope yet. He hopes to make a statement with his new team, Kedah, next season.
‘I believe Kedah will help me progress as a player. They have a strong and capable squad,’ said Sheang Tsung.
‘I am gelling well with my experienced teammates. Kedah’s style of play suits my game.
‘As a player, I will have to be disciplined in training in the hope of becoming a regular for Kedah,’ he said.
Kedah have big dreams for the new season as they hope to qualify for either the AFC Champions League or the AFC Cup in 2021.
And to achieve their target, they will either have to finish top two in the Super League or win the FA Cup next season.
‘I am determined to make a lasting impression and help Kedah achieve all their targets,’ he added.
Kedah are among the teams expected to challenge Johor Darul Ta’zim next season.
Among their top signings are last season’s Super League top scorer Kpah Sherman along with former Terengganu striker Kipre Tchetche and former Felda United captain Hadin Azman.
