MFL commentators not getting paid?

FOOTBALL commentators are used to commenting about M-League players not getting their salaries.

And this time, M-League commentators themselves are crying foul over money owed to them for their services.

It is learnt that nine pundits, who are former footballers or from broadcast industry, were not paid for much of last year. And nothing for this entire season.

According to a source, their hard work amounted to 121 Super League games and seven Malaysia Cup matches for this year as all the matches were televised amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Malaysian Football League (MFL) admitted they haven't paid the commentators but are working out an arrangement.

"There are some that we haven't paid but they will be paid," said MFL chief executive officer Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan.

"We are making arrangements to make the payments and will make time to meet their representatives or the whole team.

"Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, we are working hard to meet our commitments and there is a lot to fulfil."

Ghani confirmed that for last year, only partial payments were made to the commentators but for this year, MFL have yet to do so.

It is learnt that the commentators are paid around RM550-RM800 for their services per match.
