SAFA extends condolences to James Wong on father's death

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Football Association (SAFA) has extended its condolences to former national football squad striker, Datuk James Wong on the recent passing of his father.

Its assistant secretary-general Azman Mastar said the association including its president Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin and other staff sympathised with Wong and his family over the demise of Wong Hean Ming.

According to Azman, the sacrifice and success of the late Hean Ming in raising his children were very much appreciated.

James and two of his brothers Tony and Harry, were national football players. James' three other brothers - Vincent, Johnny and Freddy had also represented the state squad in the past.

"James Wong is a striker who made the country famous when he managed to help the national squad qualify for the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980.

"The involvement of the Wong family in football both domestically and nationally is very impressive and we really appreciate and thank you very much," he said in a statement, here.
