KUALA LUMPUR: Melaka United, on the eve of their Super League match against Kedah at the Hang Jebat Stadium tomorrow, only have bad news to offer.
They have not been paying their players' salaries for three months.
This was revealed by the Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) today.
PFAM said in a statement they had received complaints from 17 players.
"As of last night, it has amounted to three months non-salary which includes August. PFAM have sent a notice to Melaka to explain, and the matter has been brought to the attention of FAM.
"PFAM take the matter seriously and will help in defending the welfare of the players from time to time. The club (Melaka) is advised to respect the obligations agreed upon in the contracts to ensure the wellbeing of both parties."
PFAM chief executive officer Izham Ismail said in brief statement: "Three months. No salaries. MU. Still unpaid. 2022."
