KUALA LUMPUR: Thailand scored two important away goals in a 2-2 draw against Vietnam in Hanoi in the AFF Cup final first leg today.
On target for the War Elephants were Poramet Arjvirai and Sarach Yooyen.
Vietnam got the home crowd at My Dinh Stadium excited by taking the lead in the 24th minute through
Nguyen Tien Linh.
But defending champions Thailand found the equaliser in the 48th minute through Poramet before Sarach gave them a 2-1 lead in the 63rd minute.
However, Vietnam avoided defeat with the leveller in the 88th minute through Vu Van Thanh.
Thanks to their two away goals, Thailand hold the upper hand in the return leg in Bangkok on Monday.
